Question about regular caravan vs. caravan EX reverse thrust

Postby redjt2701 » Fri Nov 25, 2016 4:23 pm

Hello all,

I have a question to all you guys here. Mainly about the reverse thrust of the C208B.

Is there any significant difference of reverse thrust between the regular caravan (675 shp) and the EX?

Ive been hearing pilots talking about this for quite some time now, but im still wondering which one would be the best to use for the rugged terrain/bush operations.

Thanks alot.

Hey Redjt,

I hardly doubt that will notice a big difference except you have a different prop (4 or 5 blade) installed, as the angle and spool-up in revers thrust are nearly the same.

In regard to your question for the bush and rugged terrain - in my opinion both aircraft are proven. However on hot and high days the EX's extra power comes in handy - at a cost!
